The Sweet Beat:  Placerville Preschooler Donates Hair, Gets Cupcakes
Frostinistas Stop by Country Day Montessori

The Sweet Beat hit the road last Friday to surprise four-and-three-quarter year old Abby McGloughlin of Placerville. Abby decided all on her own to grow out and donate about a foot of her hair to Locks of Love, an organization that provides hair pieces for disadvantaged children who are suffering from long-term medical hair loss.

Abby told her parents Bre and Stephen that she wanted to give her hair to someone who didn’t have any after seeing a program on TV. Bre said once Abby saw a little girl who was 5 and had Alopecia on the program, leaving her unable to grow hair, Abby has wanted to donate her hair.

Despite losing a set of car magnets somewhere along highway 50 (first person who finds them gets a free Something Extra 75th Anniversary Cookbook!), The Sweet Beat was thrilled to be greeted with big smiles and lots of hugs at Abby’s preschool, Country Day Montessori. The kids and teachers enjoyed Black Tie cupcakes, the chocolately-marble version of our 75th Anniversary cupcakes that has proven to be a kid-favorite. We admire Abby for her giving heart at such young age!
